30 DAYS/30 STORIES® 2023

September 8th

Shane

Shane, is our incredibly happy, courageous, wizard-loving toddler! It's pretty amazing how children who are faced with this battle have a magical way of showing the rest of us how to be strong.

Shane was diagnosed with stage 3 neuroblastoma on May 7, 2020. Yes, right at the start of the pandemic. To say that we were scared, lost, and, quite frankly, in a state of panic is an understatement. Keeping your child with cancer safe is hard enough, adding a pandemic to the mix sure added a whole new level of fear to our list.

PCFLV was right by our side from the moment we heard that our baby had cancer. When it seemed as if the rest of the world was hiding from one another to protect themselves, the incredible super humans in this organization RAN to us. They showed up time and time again… from leaving surprise goodie bags on our doorstep for all 4 of our children, to gas cards for the endless trips to the hospital, to grocery cards to help ease the financial burden, to having family meals delivered on the days that we hadn't an ounce of energy left to cook a decent meal. They were always there shedding a glimmer of sunshine in the dark times.

Shane is now almost 4 years old and has been in remission for 3 whole years!

PCFLV is not just there to hold our hand and comfort our hearts during diagnosis, they are our warm, fuzzy security blanket throughout the whole journey. I know I am not just speaking for myself when I say, I couldn't have gotten through this battle without them by our side, and that is what I cherish the most about PCFLV....the sisterhood/brotherhood that they supply us with. When these angels wrap their wings around our families, we feel loved and not so alone.
