30 DAYS/30 STORIES® 2024

September 19th

Tommy

Who knew that I would still be writing stories for PCFLV after May 26, 2022; the day we lost Tommy Stackhouse to complications of Acute Myeloid Leukemia.  At 18 years old, our only child, honor student and friend to everyone, made his stoic exit.  PCFLV was there for us from day one.  Periodic visits from Kris as we were inpatient on 5J with coffee and donuts, grocery gift cards when we least expected them, a generous scholarship for college for Tommy, and a donation towards funeral expenses.

Tommy was a sixth generation Bangorian, and the community was very generous with fundraising and donations.  His father’s insurance was incredible; not leaving us with one bill which totaled ten million dollars by the end.  What would we do with all the money raised that we had in a special account?  Let’s start a non-profit foundation which would help our tiny community that was there for us; a baby PCFLV if you will.  TeamTommy Inc became incorporated in July 2022, and we took bits and pieces from our mentors to help the Slate Belt pediatric cancer families.

We will never forget PCFLV and all the help and love they have shown us over the years, and we always make sure we give back by sending items from their Amazon wish lists and supporting them any way we are able. Please consider donating to their 30 Days, 30 Stories® fundraiser which provides such incredible support for our Lehigh Valley pediatric cancer families.
